The Birchanger community

The village

It is very important to us that we maintain strong links with the village community. We have an independent nursery unit on our site; encourage local people to come and share their skills and knowledge with the children by running clubs or talking to them in class; invite members of the community into school for lunch and celebrations and take part in church services and village events.  The village has its own website (page opens in a new tab).

Links between St Mary’s Church and Birchanger C of E Primary School

The Clergy, Church Wardens and PCC Members of St Mary’s Church are all committed to the maintaining and developing of good links between the church and the school. The church has two governors on the school governing body which ensures a good relationship is maintained.

Reverend Paul and Pam Lee (Churchwarden) take it in turns to lead a weekly assembly every Tuesday at 1.10pm in school. The assemblies follow a termly theme and involve the pupils learning about the key points of the Christian faith via stories, activities and singing. The whole school also attends the Church for special services at Harvest, Christmas and Easter.
